Azcoseal
Clear, 'Wet Look' Acrylic Sealer and Primer |
Description
Azcoseal is a premium clear acrylic in a solvent solution. Azcoseal is formulated to provide a versatile sealer capable of deep peneration into a wide range of substrate and cures to form a clean, tough (hard) and resilient coating in a satin (semi- gloss) finish.
Azcoseal is an effective and long lasting sealer against water penetration, wind driven rain and salt spray.
Azcoseal is also designed as a penetrative primer for subsequent water based waterproofing membranes and high build paints and coatings and is particularly useful in high density and low-porosity surfaces such as tilt-up slabs.
Applied to pavers, brick, sandstone and masonry surfaces, Azcoseal gives an appealing 'wet-look' finish.
CAUTION: Sealed surfaces may be slippery when wet.
Uses
The properties of AZCOSEAL make it ideal for:
• Sealing and weatherproofing porous substrates such as face brick against rain and salt spray.
• Providing a penetrative primer for water based waterproofing membranes, high build paint and architectural finishes on to porous subtrates or over existing painted surfaces.
• Encapsulating and sealing friable substrates such as asbestos sheeting.
• Providing an attractive 'wet-look' sealer over pavers, brick, sandstone and masonry surfaces.
Suitable Surfaces
Azcoseal is suitable for use on:
Concrete, cement, cement render, FC and CFC sheeting, blue board, block work, bricks, cement pavers, sandstone, concrete stencil and masonry surfaces.
Specification
The information contained in this product data sheet is typical but does not constitute a full specification as conditions and specific requirements may vary from project to project. The instructions should be considered as a minimum requirement but the applicator or contractor must use their skill, knowledge and experience to carry out additional works as may be necessary to meet the requirements of the project. Specification for specific projects should be sought from the Company in writing.
Limitations
Test areas are highly recommended, particularly if coating pavers and terracotta tiles as solvents may dissolve entrapped salts which may discolour the coating and tile.
Cured coating may be slippery when wet.
If area becomes wet before product has cured, it may turn product to a milky colour.
Benefits and Advantages
- Quick drying - usually within 1 hour.
- Dries tough and hard.
- Provides a waterproof and weatherproof barrier against water ingress.
- Minimises surfaces fragmentation as it has excellent binding properties.
- UV Resistant, suitable for exposed areas.
- Dries clear with an attractive satin finish.
- It can be re - coated.
- Low dirt pick - up.
Precautions in Use
Follow all safety precautions as per product label and data sheet. Azcoseal contains solvent and is therefore flammable while still wet. Ensure that all sources of ignition are kept well away. Ensure area is well ventilated. Adequate masks should be worn when spraying. Protect surrounds against overspray. Observe all precautions on the Material Safety Data Sheet. In exposed areas, do not apply if rain is imminent and protect coating from rain and inclement weather until fully cured.
Cured product may be slippery when wet.
Priming and Surface Preparation
Good preparation is essential. Surfaces must be sound, stable, dry, clean and free of dust, loose, flaking, friable material and substances that may diminish adhesion.
All surfaces must be clean, dry, of sound construction, stable and free of any dust, dirt, grease, oil, curing compounds or contaminates that might interfere with adhesion.
Remove efflorescence and wash area and allow to dry before application.
Application
Azcoseal can be applied by brush, roller or spray at the following minimum application rates (increase rates for highly porous surfaces):
• As an encapsulating binder: Two coats at 4m² per liter per coat. Product should be worked well into the substrate.
• Clear weatherproof sealer: Two coats at 4m² per litre per coat.
• As a primer: One coat at 4m² per litre.
• Trafficable 'wet - look' finish: Three coats at 4m² per litre per coat.
Allow each coat to dry before applying each additional coat. For best results apply subsequent coats within 24 hours of the previous coat.
Coverage
The stated average coverage rate may vary depending upon type, condition, porosity, texture of the surface and application technique.
General coverage rate: is 4m² per litre per coat.
Colours
Azcoseal is a clear product and dries to a clear, semi-gloss finish.
Drying and Curing
Drying and curing of the product is affected by type, dryness and porosity of the surface, temperature, humidity, ventilation, climate conditions and application technique and therefore drying and curing can only be given as a guide.
At 25ºC and 50% RH (per coat):
• Touch dry: 1 to 2 hours
• Dry: 2 to 6 hours
• Full cure: Within 24 hours.
Service Temperature: 10ºC to 50ºC
Application Temperature: 5ºC to 30ºC
Storage
Azcoseal should be stored in a cool, dry place and kept clear of sources of ignition as product is flammable.
Class 3 dangerous goods must be declared prior to transportation.
Azcoseal is available in 4 and 15 Lt pails.
Clean Up
All tools and equipment should be cleaned with Duram solvent as soon after completion as practical.
Tiling, Topping or Top Coating
Not recommended as product is usually left exposed.
Safety & Precautions
Sealed surfaces may be slippery when wet. The use of Solvent resistant gloves, mask and eye protection is recommended. Observe the safety precautions on the Product data sheet and Material safety Data Sheet.
For full safety data refer to the products Material Safety Data Sheet. Observe precautions as per label.
