Description
Duram Leak-Seal Tape is a waterproofing membrane / reinforcing fabric combination to provide a simple yet excellent waterproofingsolution and technique for joins, corners, cracks and gaps.
Duram Leak-Seal Tape is unique reinforcing fabric combined with a special 1mm (approx.) self adhesive waterproofing compound. Used in conjunction with Duram waterrpoofing membranes, it provides the ultimate method in waterproofing and sealing joints, corners and cracks. Duram Leak-Seal Tape is simple to apply, is quick, saves time, money and importantly provides the ultimate in waterproofing technique, and long term reliability and protection..
Uses
Waterproofs and seals corners, joints, cracks and gaps. Duram Leak-Seal Tape should be used in conjunction with Duram waterproofing membranes for ultimate waterproofing protection.
Suitable Surfaces
Duram Leak-Seal Tape is suitable over clean, primed, even and relatively smooth building surfaces including concrete, render, block work, brick, plaster board, fibre board, CFC sheeting, metal, timber and fibre-glass surfaces.

Limitations
Surfaces must be even and smooth to allow a good bond. Duram Leak-Seal Tape is not recommended for surfaces that are rough, pebbled, textured, spiky or similar.

Precautions in Use
Duram Leak-Seal Tape is considered safe to use if used as intended.
Priming and Surface Preparation
Good preparation is essential. Surfaces must be sound, stable, dry, clean and free of dust, loose, flaking, friable material and substances that may diminish adhesion.
Surfaces must be sound, dry and free of contaminants, dust, dirt, oil, grease, waxes and any adhesion detracting substances and smooth and even enough to allow good adhesion to the surface.
Prime surfaces with Duram Primeseal - our recommended primer, (or other suitable waterproofing primer as required for the Duram waterproofing membrane to be used), and allow to dry.
To corners and joints apply a flexible polyurethane joint sealant in the usual manner. The Duram Leak-Seal Tape can be applied directly and immediately over the sealant provided that the bead of sealant is no more than 10mm wide.
Application
Peel and stick the Duram Leak-Seal Tape , centred over the joint, crack or corner. Overlaps should be at least 100mm.
It is important that pressure be applied uniformly to the entire areas of the tape to ensure a good bond.
Duram Leak-Seal Tape can be applied over the wet polyurthane sealant provided that the bead of sealant is no more than 10mm wide.
As soon as the tape is installed the Duram membranes can be applied over it.
Coat over the Duram Leak-Seal Tape with a suitable Duram waterproofing membrane extending to the substrate as would usually be done or required for that product. Refer to the relevent product data sheet.
Suitable Duram waterproofing membranes include: Duram Multithane, Duram 195, Durabit EF, Durabit Reo, Azcoflex, Crystoflex, Pondseal, Duramax Maxiflex & Supreme.

The stated average coverage rate may vary depending upon type, condition, porosity, texture of the surface and application technique.

Whitish matting with a grey waterproof backing.
Drying and Curing
Drying and curing of the product is affected by type, dryness and porosity of the surface, temperature, humidity, ventilation, climate conditions and application technique and therefore drying and curing can only be given as a guide.

Storage
Store in cool, dry and protected area.
Tiling, Topping or Top Coating
After installation and application of the waterproofing membrane the area can be tiled, topped and coated. Refer to the data sheet of the relevent waterproofing membrane.
